For this week’s episode I spoke to Jody Plauche, who is the son of the late Leon Gary Plauche who passed away on October 14, 2014. If you aren’t familiar with Gary and Jody’s story, you can easily find details on the Internet. Gary will always be known as a vigilante who killed a man named Jeff Doucet. The shooting was captured on camera by a news television crew and has been viewed over a million times.

On March 16, 1984, police officers were escorting Doucet through the Baton Rouge Metro Airport. He had been arrested for kidnapping and raping Jody Plauche. Gary killed the man who kidnapped and raped his son. Plauche received a seven-year suspended sentence with five years of probation and 300 hours of community service. He received no jail time.

The case received much publicity because people were conflicted over whether Plauche should have been sent to prison. Gary Plauche said anyone in a similar situation would have done the same thing as he did.

Jody has written a book called "Why, Gary, Why?": The Jody Plauché Story, which is available on Amazon and other book retailers. Jody can be reached on FB and other social media outlets. Jody's contact information can be found on his website at: http://www.jodyplauche.net
